Accredited Mentoring Program The group does offer another form of mentorship.  It’s called "Accredited Mentoring Program". That is when students in high school or college/university has their school involved and the student does an internship or period of evaluation with iFilmGroup and the student is then evaluated and receives a mark and credit for their time under the mentorship of the iFilmGroup team.

Marshall has had the experience on several levels dealing with this form of mentorship. He explains “I have had various students from college programs approach me to do an internship with us. Also had high school students looking to gain more experience for careers in the film industry or to gain more experience in technical or acting for prep for post-secondary studies”, Marshall explains. Marshall goes on to explain about another example of a student named Jasmine who is looking to learn more about directing who has been being mentored by Marshall and working on a film studies credit.  Jasmine is from the Middle East, she has very little opportunity to explore making films due to her culture. But here in Canada and with the opportunity to learn and train with Marshall she can explore her passion of film making. “Learning directing and film making from Mr. Marshall and the iFilmGroup is a dream come true for me”, says Jasmine. She goes on to say “I feel very blessed to be able to learn from someone like Mr. Marshall that creates strong female lead films. This group of people at iFilmGroup allow all people to have opportunities to explore their passions and talents within making films”, adds Jasmine.

Another student Anna Victoria from Ecole Georges-P.- Vanier in Hamilton recently has gone through iFilmGroup’s "Accredited Mentoring Program". Anna an actress, recently performed her hours for mentor week with iFilmGroup under the supervision of award winning director and iFilmGroup co-founder Matthew Marshall.  She has acted in a couple of Marshall’s films.  The idea of  an "Accredited Mentorship Program for iFilmGroup is less than a year old but is picking up steam very quickly. And takes the idea of mentorship and passing along knowledge and information dealing with film making to the next level. Marshall and Hickey expect to see a lot of kids come through the program. The "Accredited Mentorship Program" is about the connection and relationship with the schools. All participating "Accredited Mentoring Program" participants must arrange with iFilmGroup and their school before they are accepted into the "Accredited Mentorship Program" with iFilmGroup.

Standard Mentoring Program The corner stone of iFilmGroup’s mission and mandate is to mentor members in the film making process while making award winning films. To bring those starting out in the business and partner them with members within the group that have the training, expertise and experience that they can pass on to others that are just learning or wishing to expand their current knowledge. “Everyone needs a mentor to give you guidance and help you get to where you want to go to in a particular skill or profession”, says iFilmGroup Community Engagement Manager and Co-Founder of the program Don Hickey.

The iFilmGroup co-Founders Don Hickey and Matthew Marshall bring a long history of experience in the film industry to the table. The over 80 awards that their films have won speaks to the quality of their work and what they have to offer to others. They have also surrounded themselves with other talented people that have credentials in acting photography and other skills in film making. But they are not interested in producing copies of themselves. They are looking to teach and inspire the next generation of film makers.

Matthew Marshall feels that Academy Award winning director Steven Spielberg sums up mentorship and what iFilmGroup is after best. Spielberg says “The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves”. Spielberg would know a little bit about mentorship and film making. He is considered one of the founding pioneers of the New Hollywood era and one of the most popular directors and producers in film history. He is also one of the co-founders of "Dreamworks Studios".

Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan", as well as receiving five other nominations. Three of Spielberg's films; "Jaws", "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", and "Jurassic Park"—achieved box office records and came to epitomize the blockbuster film.

iFilmGroup’s most recognized form of mentorship that they are known for is what is called the  "Standard Mentoring Program". Which is what iFilmGroup members receive during their workshop programs and when the members are working on set on projects. The iFilmGroup Team supports every participant from youth to seniors with "Standard Mentoring Program".
