Standard Mentoring Program
The cornerstone of iFilmGroup’s mission and mandate is to mentor members in the film making process while making award-winning films. To bring those starting in the business and partner them with members within the group that have the training, expertise and experience that they can pass on to others that are just learning or wishing to expand their current knowledge. “Everyone needs a mentor to give you guidance and help you get to where you want to go to in a particular skill or profession”, says iFilmGroup Community Engagement Manager and Co-Founder of the program Don Hickey.

The iFilmGroup co-Founders Don Hickey and Matthew Marshall bring a long history of experience in the film industry to the table. The over 100 awards that their films have won speaks to the quality of their work and what they have to offer to others. They have also surrounded themselves with other talented people that have credentials in acting photography and other skills in film making. But they are not interested in producing copies of themselves. They are looking to teach and inspire the next generation of filmmakers.

Matthew Marshall feels that Academy Award-winning director Steven Spielberg sums up mentorship and what iFilmGroup is after best. Spielberg says “The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves”. Spielberg would know a little bit about mentorship and film making. He is considered one of the founding pioneers of the New Hollywood era and one of the most popular directors and producers in film history. He is also one of the co-founders of "Dreamworks Studios".

Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for "Schindler's List" and "Saving Private Ryan", as well as receiving five other nominations. Three of Spielberg's films; "Jaws", "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial", and "Jurassic Park"—achieved box office records and came to epitomize the blockbuster film.

iFilmGroup’s most recognized form of mentorship that they are known for is what is called the "Standard Mentoring Program". Which is what iFilmGroup members receive during their workshop programs and when the members are working on set on projects. The iFilmGroup Team supports every participant from youth to seniors with the "Standard Mentoring Program".
